It's just really weird to me that it will work just fine until a sleep or shutdown. I've tried searching the web for different drivers, downloading from the Dell website, and countless other things I can't recall. I then scan for new hardware and it reinstalls and the reader works until sleep/shutdown. So every morning I start up the device manager, go to Biometric devices, and uninstall Synaptics FP Sensors (WDF) (PID=003f) and check off "delete the driver software for this device". (the second option is greyed out) 2) services > find the service related to your fingerprint ( mine was valwbf. Once I do that the reader works just fine until the next shutdown or sleep. 1) device manager > biometrics > (My fingerprint driver ) > power management tab > untick allow computer to turn off device.
